A Metadata Narrative is an art installation comprised of four wood boxes appended to a wall. The boxes are an analog re-telling of the chaotic online media narrative spun in the immediate wake of the tragic Boston Marathon Bombing in 2013.
Each box contains photographs sourced based on metadata criteria:
- Pictures internet users used in attempts to identify the Boston bombing suspect
- Pictures extracted from most recent tweets with the word “Crowd”
- Pictures geotagged “Boston, MA” (filtered here are only images of the moon in Boston)
- Pictures publicly available with metadata timestamp “April 15 2013 2:49pm EDT” (reported time both bombs went off)
